High School Sports : New Coach Meets with Students, Parents and Staff

By Beth Saine
VALE, NC – West Lincoln High School Principal, Matt Stover introduced the school’s new head football coach, Mark Latham to the interested parents, students and staff in attendance at 6:00 pm on Thursday evening at the school gymnasium. It did not take long to realize that Coach Latham brought with him a lot of “positive energy” to the school well before the first snap will ever take place.
Of course, whenever there is a “new kid on the block” so to speak, there are concerns among the staff, parents and the students. When asked about his plans, Coach Latham replied, “As head coach, I have been given the flexibility to hire the staff. Everyone that was here before me will certainly be given the opportunity to stay. No announcements will be made until the process has been completed and all nine staff members have been selected.”
Coach Latham may be new to the school but is not a newcomer to the area.
