Home in Boger City site of area's largest animated light and music display for Christmas

LINCOLNTON
- With Thanksgiving just a day away and the Christmas Season already in full swing, folks are beginning to get into the holiday festive mode. The crisper temperatures, the flicker of fireplaces and warm scented candles are certainly indicators that the Christmas Season is upon us.

If you are starting to get that Christmas “spirit”, you might want to make a stop at the Crouse house located in Abbey Park just off Hwy. 150.

Unlike most of us, Jeff Crouse begins his Christmas planning and decoration in late summer and early fall. One would have to be able to start early in order to get all the neat Christmas displays assembled that he has made and proudly displays for the enjoyment of children of all ages.

This year in addition, to the nativity scene, the more than 50,000 lights that brings the trees, shrubs and bushes alive with the beat of the music, and the “Little Train That Can”, Crouse has added to this year’s animated show an 8-foot snowman that throws snowballs and a very precise replica of Boger City Fire Department’s Engine 2.

Having recently completed this new addition to the show, Crouse unveiled the little engine at the BCFD where the firefighters gathered to see “Little Engine 2” and the real Engine 2 and pose for a few photographs.

“The likeness of the two engines is absolutely amazing” said Tim Valentine, a firefighter with the department. A flip of the switch and “Little Engine 2” came alive with lights and sirens.

On Thanksgiving evening, Little Engine 2 will make its debut at the Crouse home and will be on display along with the other enchanting decorations.

The general public is invited to drive by from 5:30 pm until 10:30 pm each evening beginning on Thanksgiving Day and running nightly thru January 1, 2010. If you are driving in the neighborhood, tune your radio to 89.3 FM to hear the Christmas music as you watch the lights in full coordination with the music.

You can also visit the Facebook page, "Animated Christmas Light Show in Lincolnton, NC".

Little Engine 2 can also be seen accompanying Engine 2 in the annual Christmas parade on Sunday in downtown Lincolnton.
