LINCOLN COUNTY – A Vale man who was trying to hide to avoid arrest for a little over a year on several charges is finally caught in Cleveland County and brought back to Lincoln County.
Lincoln County Sheriff’s Detective Andrew Alvarado charged Bradly Gene Mellon, 19, 6827 Highway 27 West, Vale, with larceny and 11 counts of uttering forged endorsements.
Mellon is accused of stealing several checks from a Vale woman, then cashing the checks at Food Country on Highway 27 West near the Highway 274 intersection. The victim told Detective Alvarado she did not write the checks and did not authorize the checks to be cashed.
The victim first discovered the checks were missing when an employee of Food Country contacted her.
Detective Alvarado received information on Oct. 2 that Mellon was in Lawndale, where the suspect was arrested by Cleveland County authorities.
The original incident was reported to the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office on Sept. 10, 2008.
Mellon was taken to the Lincoln County Magistrate’s Office and given a $12,000 secured bond then taken to the Harven A. Crouse Detention Center. He has since posted bond and has been released from custody.
