Mount Holly, NC - September 9, 2009. Mount Holly Community Development Foundation invites you to attend its 2nd Annual Autumn on Main Harvest Festival on Saturday, September 19 from 10 am to 5 pm. Main Street is transformed into a pedestrian mall featuring visual and performing artists from the region, North Carolina wineries and a special Kids Zone.
Visit and shop for local arts and fine crafts ranging from paintings, woodworking and jewelry to fiber art, photography and sculpture. Be entertained by performers on stage throughout the day including contemporary acoustic – folk – rock, Sweet Adeline Quartet, Bluegrass, and Broadway show tunes. Sample the wine harvest with free tastings and buy a bottle to take home! The Kids Zone offers a variety of activities, such as face-painting, Rhythms Booth, Discover Arts Booth and Storytelling; you can meet McGruff, the police mascot, and get your photo taken behind the wheel of a Fire Engine complete with your own Fireman’s hat!
Don’t’ forget to start your day at the Mount Holly Farmers Market at 8 am in the Stowe Insurance parking lot. This is the last market of the season, so stock up on the fresh local bounty! And, of course, local shops, restaurants and cafes will entice you with their specials of the day.
The Mount Holly Community Development Foundation is excited to be hosting its second annual festival as a way to spotlight the diversity of regional art. All artists, both visual and performing, were chosen through a selection process to ensure the quality of their work. The Foundation’s primary role in the community is that of a catalyst to “advance the health, general welfare and prosperity of the Mount Holly area.” Board Chair, Wendy Foster, explains that “hosting a fall arts festival is a major step towards fulfilling the Foundation’s mission and goals by enlivening downtown with business activity and fun.”
The Foundation is grateful for the generosity of its sponsors, who are helping make this event a success. Gold Sponsors: CaroMont Health, Community One Bank and Duke Energy;
Silver Sponsors: Andrew Oblinger DDS, CaroMont Family Practice, Charlie’s Drugs & Sundries, Jackson Hewitt Tax Service and National Gypsum Company;
