Fire / Police : Manhunt for Suspect Called Off

- Authorities called of their operations in an attempt to locate an armed robbery suspect in western Lincoln County late Sunday night. Rains made the search difficult for police K-9 units.

The manhunt involved officers from three different agencies and K-9 units. EMS and Howard's Creek Fire Department personnel were also called to the scene to assist in the search.

Authorities confirmed that they were looking for one of two suspects they believe were involved in an armed robbery of the Triple B One Stop in Vale.

The robbery happened on August 06, 2009 at around 10:00 pm. Two suspects entered the Triple B One Stop at closing time and robbed the store with a knife.

The two suspects threatened the clerks and took an undisclosed amount of money.

Cleveland County Sheriff’s Office received a call about a possible location on the two suspects.

Cleveland County Sheriff’s Office responded to Casar Road area where the two suspects ran on foot. Cleveland and Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office’s along with Shelby Police department and the North Carolina Highway Patrol conducted a search of the area by way of K9 units from Cleveland County.

A Lincoln County Deputy on Hwy 27 West near Hwy 18 spotted the suspects, and they ran into the woods. A large search was conducted in that area with K9 units from Cleveland County and Lincolnton Police Department.

Officers were unable to locate the two suspects.

Warrants were obtained for the arrest of Logan Gene Long White, Male DOB of 02/18/1991, and Joseph Lee Hughes white, Male DOB 09/25/1989 for the charge of Robbery with a Dangerous Weapon and two counts of 1st Degree Kidnapping.

Logan Long was last seen wearing a white shirt and khaki shorts. Joseph was last seen wearing blue jeans and a blue shirt with some type of writing on it.
