DENVER – A Mount Holly man faces several charges after trying to elude a Lincoln County Sheriff’s deputy who was trying to conduct a traffic stop.
Deputy R. Richard first spotted a White Mercedes heading north on Highway 16 around 2:19 a.m. last week on Tuesday. The deputy attempted to persuade the driver to pull the car over for a traffic stop but the driver accelerated instead of stopping.
After turning south in the 1400 block of Highway 16, the vehicle turned down a driveway, suddenly coming to a stop.
Deputy Richard said Martin jumped out of the vehicle and ran into the woods. Deputy J. Connor was called to assist Deputy Richard.
The pair captured Martin, who had run about 1/8 of a mile into the woods according to Deputy Richard.
David Todd Martin, 38, 156 Antelope Drive, Mount Holly, was arrested and charged with resisting arrest; driving while license revoked; having a fictitious plate; registration violation and having an open container. He was taken to the Harven A. Crouse Detention Center under a $2,250 secured bond.
Martin has since posted bond and has been released from custody.
