Education : North Lincoln High School’s DECA Chapter Receive Awards

GREENSBORO - The North Lincoln High School DECA Chapter attended the North Carolina Career Development Conference March 4 – 7, 2009 in Greensboro.

Of the 36 students who attended from North Lincoln DECA, 30 were recognized for proficiency which means they received a combined score of above 70%.

The North Lincoln DECA Chapter is currently the 19th largest chapter in the state. The chapter was recognized as a "Rock Star Chapter" for increasing membership by more than 10%. The chapter also received the Gold Level Chapters of Distinction Award for having a challenging program of work.

The following students were recognized on stage during the Grand Awards Session:


First Place Employability Skills – Dalton Vitiello

Second Place Community Service Project (Pink Knight) – Shelby Gilmore and Jason Royko

Fourth Place General Marketing Research Event – Ashley Thackery and Josh Cody

Fifth Place Creative Marketing – Morgan Malmberg

Fifth Place Public Relations Project – Jimmy Stone and Matt Scott

Seventh Place Retail Marketing – Jeremiah Mosteller

Seventh Place Hospitality Marketing – Sabrina Young and Pat Sykes

Eighth Place Internet Marketing Team – Jeremiah Mosteller and Sarah Dummer

The following students were recognized on stage during the Honors Session for having the highest score in the interview portion of their event:

Jason Royko and Evan Sipe – Sports & Entertainment Team Decision Making Event

Dalton Vitiello – Employability Skills - Personal Finance

In other DECA news, Shelby Gilmore was elected the 2009-2010 North Carolina DECA Blue Ridge Region Vice President.

The North Lincoln High School DECA Advisor is Tammy Gilmore.
