CHARLOTTE - The Community Blood Center of the Carolinas (CBCC) announced this week that its Fourth Annual Puppies for Patients campaign has been the most successful to date. From Nov. 1 – Dec. 19, community blood donors and CBCC provided more than 2,000 stuffed animal puppies to children in 14 area hospitals.
As part of the campaign, the Community Blood Center of the Carolinas provided the opportunity for every blood donor to sign a gift tag that was later attached to a stuffed puppy. Each puppy was then donated to a child in one our local hospitals in the blood donor’s name.
“I want to personally thank all of our donors and media representatives who helped deliver the stuffed puppies and brightened the faces of thousands of children. Special thanks also goes to our partner hospitals and their dedicated staff for making this annual program such a huge success,” said Martin Grable, president and CEO of Community Blood Center of the Carolinas. “We do this to heighten the awareness of the need for blood for children and to give them just a little extra holiday lift. On behalf of all the patients and their families whose lives you’ve touched, our heartfelt thanks this holiday season.”
This year, 11 local media celebrities including: Larry Sprinkle (WCNC); Maureen O’Boyle (WBTV); Shawn Flynn (News 14 Carolina); Jennifer Moxley (News 14 Carolina); Heather Waliga (News 14 Carolina); Bea Thompson (WBAV-FM); and Carolina Weekly Newspaper staff members Regan White, Pat Higgins, Anna Dykema, Kara Lopp and Erica Singleton helped deliver stuffed animal puppies to children at hospitals throughout this community.
